the universe hates me...

ever since giving up occupational therapy and pretty much vowing never to go near a hospital ever, ever again, my body seems content to conspire against me so that i end up in a hospital...

to explain, a lowdown of my day.

9.20am - doctor's appointment, to sort out prescription. so needless to say i was disgruntled at having to wake up early. he saw me at 9.00 since i was early, and i managed to see the actual pharmacist at boots so got the prescription pretty much instantly.

since it was before 10.30 and i hadn't eaten, i got onto the bus and got off at mcdonalds for breakfast. only to discover that, for some un-specified reason, it was closed. so off i went home, slightly disgruntled.

i had an hour to kill before i had to leave to go to work at 12.30. at some point at about 10.45, i went upstairs for something that was at the end of my bed. on descending the ladder, my right ankle twisted and sent me straight to the floor - this occurs regularly, and usually fades quite fast despite the fact that it hurts lots because i twisted it badly in year 10, during GCSEs. this time, i heard it crack, and the pain was, to put it lightly, excrutiating.

i managed to hobble downstairs and sat down, muttering disgruntedly. then i decided that if i could find my ankle bandage, i could get a taxi to work and at least stay on one side of the bar. i couldn't find the bandage. it was still hurting. finally, i phoned my mum, and we established that it might be broken, and off we went to A&E at dudley road...

the whole thing took four hours, which wasn't too bad. from A&E, i was taken to a practice nurse, who thought perhaps the crack was the ligaments snapping back into place, but she sent me off to x-ray just in case, because sometimes that can pull bits of the bone off. so, off i went to x-ray.

she showed me the pictures. i have a fractured cuboid, which is a little bone in the foot, just above the little toe (i'll go find a picture later, possible) - it's only a small fracture. methinks my ankle finally said to itself, "screw this, you've fallen off me enough times. i'm going to break. ha!"

anyway, i am now casted and in moderate pain, and am going back on monday for them to check it out again. hopefully, as it's a tiny little fracture (literally, only a couple of millimetres; i could barely see it on the x-ray, in fact) it won't take TOO long to heal...

anyway, here's a delightful photo of my flabby and plaster-encased leg... Collapse )

so, if anyone wants me to go out drinking with them, they'll have to be willing to come here and bloody carry me. or just come here, although i doubt my mother would appreciate a house full of drunken people.

since i may not get to see most of you, i won't get my cast signed. send me cyber-signatures! and silly comments! garn...

of course, there is another way you can offer sympathy...

by reviewing the latest fic.

this might be the last buffy fic for a while, since i'm meant to be finishing my POTO fic before midasgirl lynches me. of course, now i've said that for the world to see, my spike muse will probably plant himself firmly on the floor of my head and start singing "i shall not be moved". oy.
