Day 08 - A Song You Know All The Words To
Judy Garland - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" - from The Wizard of Oz
Obviously, there are plenty of songs I know all the words to, but I've gone for this because it was the very first song I learnt by heart of my own volition. The Wizard of Oz is one of the first films I can remember watching repeatedly at a young age, and also at one point I taught myself to play the melody of this on the piano (admittedly in the wrong key!) when I was about 6 or 7. Much later on, I did the same with "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, though alas I never did manage to hone my playing by ear to encompass anything other than melodies...
Day 09 - A Song You Can Dance To
Richard O'Brien and cast - "The Time Warp" - from The Rocky Horror (Picture) Show
This is the film version because it's probably my favourite (I own about 7 different RH soundtrack CDs, including the karaoke one. :D) and also the first version of Rocky Horror I saw. Actually, this is the ONLY song I dance to. Ever. In any capacity.
*jumps to the left, etc*
Day 10 - A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep
Ludovico Einaudi - "Le Onde" (The Waves)
I need to get more Einuadi, as I only have the 'Echoes' collection, of which this is the first track. This is a somewhat slower version, actually. I could have picked any track from the collection as they're all of a similar vein. Einaudi's music just... transports you. I don't tend to listen to music to fall asleep because I need darkness and silence to do so, but if I did, I think this would take me to wondrous places in my dreams...
Day 11 - A Song From Your Favourite Band / Artist
Pink - "Trouble" - from Try This
(This one's meant to be just your favourite band, but I have more favourite artists than bands, so...) I like a lot of Pink's stuff but this was the track that made my go out and buy her stuff, after watching her perform it live on So Graham Norton.
Day 12 - A Song From A Band You Hate
Girls Aloud - "Teenage Dirtbag"
Why yes, it actually is as bad as you think it's going to be. This version is even worse than the version I own, if that were possible. And technically Paul owns it because he bought the Radio One 60th anniversary compilation album of varous artists covering songs from the past 60 years. There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to start, but for the most part, THIS IS MY TATTOOING SONG GODDAMMIT!! It was playing in the studio when I had my first tattoo, but I liked the song before then... I think I might hate it less if they'd even bothered attempting to change the lyrics so they MADE BLOODY SENSE. I mean, yes. There are boys called Noel. Paul's brother is called Noel. I think if you called him "Noh-ell" he might be somewhat annoyed!
Anyway. That will have to do as I have a lasagne to serve. :)
